The American Kennel Club declared its independence this year and held its annual Meet the Breeds expo separate from the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
In years past, the two events were held concurrently at the piers on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. This year Meet the Breeds found a new, spacious, brightly lit home at the Javits Center. (Can you tell I prefer the new locale?)

This year there was plenty of room to mill about and … um … meet the breeds!

The Bergamasco Sheepdog booth is always a hit. Everyone loves a dog that looks like a carpet!

There were opportunities to learn about Police dogs and to go shopping.

Kids all had a good time.

And the dogs got a chance to snooze at the end of a long day.
