The Daily Dog: Rive
Heroic Rescue!
This sweet, shy boy is named Rive. When he was about five months old he fell into the Middle River near the Fort Lauderdale home of two friends of ours, Chris and Derek. Chris, said:
“Rive fell or ran into the river after some folks tried to catch him and his sister who were seen running loose in the neighborhood. A neighbor five houses down saw the rescue effort of one guy who’d jumped into his kayak to try and rescue the paddling pup; that neighbor jumped in, grabbed the puppy, and put him on seawall.”

The two puppies were adopted; Chris and Derek took in the male, whom they named “Rive,” which is French for “river bank.”
Below, you’ll see a picture of the Middle River. Rive fell in a bit beyond the white dock you see in the distance just left of center in the picture. He swam across the river to the other side before he was rescued.

Below you’ll see a picture of Rive the day he was pulled from the river. He was covered in dozens and dozens of ticks and suffered from mange.

As you can see in the picture below, he now looks happy and healthy in his new life with Chris and Derek.

Both were abandoned pups that someone had dropped off in the neighborhood across the river. We were told, the next day, that his sister was also brought into the same vet and that (that) family also decided to nurture and keep her as well.
We chuckle at times thinking we was trying to swim to the home that needed him~
Thanks Sean and Clark for loving our little guy too. His older sister Playa and cat sister Aimee love him too!
LOVE RIVE, I would have called him LUCKY, LOL
Such a handsome guy!
