Miami Dog Run Review: Margaret Pace Park
High Tech Dog Run in Miami
The other day I decided to check out the dog run in Margaret Pace Park in Miami. The park is located in the Edewater neighborhood in the shadow of some of the city’s nicest high rise apartment buildings. At 20,000 square feet it’s the largest dog park in Miami proper. Like most dog parks, it’s broken up into an area for larger dogs and a section for smaller dogs.

After the dog park in Haulover Park, it’s definitely the nicest dog run I’ve seen in Miami-Dade county. It’s also the first dog run I’ve encountered that had artificial turf!

The turf is called SYNlawn Pet Premium artificial grass. You can read all about it here, but I have to say it was great. Among its features are its ability to drain quickly and its special heat blocking technology. We were there midday in July. The park didn’t smell and Bodhi’s feet clearly weren’t bothered by surface heat.
The park has a number of benches and small tree-shaded areas.

There are a number of fire hydrants for dogs to pee on.

A feature Bodhi availed himself of, over and over.

And over.

There are also water fountains, for both humans and dogs. The water coming out of the dog fountain was only a trickle, and a dog walker we chatted with said the fountains hadn’t been working well in months. There were also a number of free poop-bag dispensers.

Margaret Pace Park is also a very lively place to hang out. When you’re done playing with your dog off-leash in the dog run, you can take your pooch for a nice walk along Biscayne Bay. The park is open every day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
