Society Paws Awards
Dogs in Dresses!
I had the distinct pleasure of attending the First Annual Society Paws Awards this past weekend. In fact I got to present three awards and it was a lot of fun! The event was spearheaded by Bobbi Mitchell. Its purpose was to benefit Yorkie 911 Rescue, and to provide a bit of early fall, afternoon fun.

There were twelve categories, I got to present awards to three winners: “Twitter Pawsonality,” best “Candid Pawtographer,” and “Long Distance New Yorker.”
The evening’s winners were:
Fashion Forward Pup: Baxter
Twitter Pawsonality: Pebbleiscious
Instagram Pawsonality: Cruz the Frenchie
Facebook Pawsonality: Lily
Rescue Favs: Yorkie911 Rescue
Pawtographer (Professional): Richie Schwartz
Pawtographer (Candid): Virginia Rodriguez
Photogenic Pup: Penelope Vereen
Pawpula Pup: Tut
Long Distance New Yorker: Viki Anders
Honorary Pup: Lady GaGa (A chicken!)
Challenger Award: Summer Strand
Bobbi Mitchell toiled endlessly to pull off the event. All the attendees were very grateful!

Actress, writer, and director Sheila Mitchell Simmons hosted the show. You can see her below mugging with “Twitter Pawsonality” nominee Shaggy.

Summer Strand (seen below with her pooch April Moon) won the “Adah Challenger” award. This award honors the person who is “nice, follows and comments on just about everything in the doggie community, posts pictures of their furbabies, and is an all-around loving person in the doggie community.”

There were dogs in dresses everywhere! You definitely had to watch where you were stepping!

These three amigas stormed the stage!

A great post about the event and some great fun pictures too.
I was there also. Tons of fun for the local NY/LI (and beyond) dog community.
I was a nominee in the Professional Pawtographer category and came ready to party, but when the event photographer got ill and couldn’t make it, Being a photographer, I was asked at the last minute if I could fill in and I was happy to help. I’ll be posting the pictures on my Facebook page over the next day or two.
