147th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
The 147th edition of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show — America’s second-longest continuously held sporting event — starts this year on Saturday, May 6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens.

Saturday is Westminster’s Canine Celebration Day. Highlights of the day include: the 10th anniversary of the ever-popular Masters Agility Championship; the 8th annual Masters Obedience Championship; Dock Diving; and a Breed Showcase.

The dog show starts on Monday, May 8.
The dogs entered at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show each compete within their own breed to be chosen as Best of their Breed / Variety. There are 212 American Kennel Club-recognized breeds and varieties participanting this year.
Junior Showmanship is a competition assessing the handling skills of children nine to 18 years of age, independent of the traits of the dog. This competition promotes proper training and care to prepare future generations for responsible dog ownership, sportsmanship, and future success in the sport.
The big event, Best in Show, takes place Tuesday night. It will be televised on Fox.
