Doberman Pinscher Wins Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
Penny, a four-year-old Doberman Pinscher took the top prize at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show last night.
It’s the fifth time a Dobie has taken the top prize, the last time was in 1989.
It was also a big moment for Penny’s handler. The New York Times reports: “Her handler, Andy Linton, won best in show in 1989, nearly four decades ago, with a Doberman named Indy. Penny is the fifth member of the breed to win best in show in Westminster’s 150-year history.
Mr. Linton has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Asked about his health difficulties in a post-show interview, he said, modestly: ‘I had some goals, and this was one of them.’”
