Spotlight on Dogs & Photography: A Talk with Heidi Hudson

  • Museum of the Dog 101 Park Avenue Manhattan (map)

Since the dawn of photography, dogs have been a beloved and ever-present subject. From loyal companions to symbolic muses, our four-legged friends have stood proudly before the lens for nearly two centuries.

Join us for a special talk with Heidi Hudson, Curator of Photographic Collections at the Royal Kennel Club, as she traces the parallel history of dogs and photography in Great Britain. Drawing from the Royal Kennel Club’s remarkable early photographic collections, which she has curated with expertise and care since 2011, Hudson will reveal how dogs appeared as subject, muse, prop, and symbol in the burgeoning world of 19th-century photography.

Whether you’re a devoted dog lover, a history enthusiast, a photography aficionado, or all three, this fascinating evening promises fresh insights into the enduring bond between dogs and the camera.

Reserve your spot today to experience this captivating evening where history, art, and dogs come together! Admission to the in-person presentation is free for Members and included with General Admission ticketing. Not local to NYC but still want to join us? Reserve your virtual seat for our live broadcast. Tickets available for the virtual presentation by suggested donation.
