Museum of the Dog / Paws on Parade

Come bark in the park! Join the AKC Museum of the Dog at Bryant Park’s annual dog parade and social. This event will bring together local dogs and dog lovers of all ages, in a festive gathering featuring a parade of pups around the park.

And–from this event through the end September–leashed dogs will be invited to join their people on the lawn to sit, stay, and lounge! Special food and drink vendors will be available in Bryant Park to help you create the perfect NYC picnic experience.

Schedule

12:00pm Registration/Check In opens at the AKC Museum of the Dog booth on the Upper Terrace

Bryant Park’s lawn opens to everyone including dogs!

Food and beverage tents open on the Fountain Terrace with a delectable selection from Hester Street Fair

Enjoy special activities for dog owners and dog lovers at stations throughout the park.
12:00-1:30pm Enjoy dog themed read-aloud stories and crafts with teaching artist Jessica Ressler in the Kids Creative Corner


12:00-4:00pm Ask a Trainer Station: Speak with our friends from Paws for Thought Dog Training to learn all about how to help your dog thrive in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Ask all of your tricks and training questions and enjoy demonstrations with real dogs at scheduled times throughout the event.


12:00-4:00pm Poster Making Art Station: enhance the visual experience at the parade by making a poster featuring your dog, love for your favorite breed, and more! Staff and alumni from the Pawsability Dog Club will facilitate this art activity and help enhance the creative experience.


12:00-4:00pm Bark for Books: New York Public Library (NYPL) will be on hand to help you sign up for a library card and recommend some captivating canine books.


12:15-12:45pm Tricks Training Presentation with Paws for Thought Dog Training at the “Ask a Trainer” Station


12:30-1:30pm Cartooning Dogs with artist Kristin Doney at the Bryant Park Art Cart


1:30-4:00pm Get a personalized certificate from artist Kristin Doney highlighting one of your dog’s best attributes. Be it ‘most boop-able snout’ or ‘eyes most likely to earn extra treats’ you’ll take home a fun memento from the event.


1:45-2:15pm Tricks Training Presentation with Paws for Thought Dog Training at the “Ask a Trainer” Station


2:30-3:30pm Drawing Dog Facial Features with teaching artist Jessica Ressler at the Bryant Park Art Cart

2:30pm Enjoy live music from Susan Said on the lawn.

4:00pm Parade around the lawn! Dogs, people, jugglers, and a marching band will circle the lawn twice in joyous celebration of all things dog.
