2:00 pm: 9/11 Veterinary Response Panel2:00 pm: 9/11 Veterinary Response Panel – On 9/11, a spontaneous veterinary response occurred at Ground Zero, and quickly evolved into a round the clock operation organized in real time by private citizens who met at the site. Over 200 private volunteer veterinarians and technicians supported the Search and Rescue Dogs and their handlers 24 hours a day, in their crucial fight to reunite families with their loved ones. Join us to hear from our panel of experts who, as citizen first responders, arrived and met for the first time following the World Trade Center disaster. These individuals and others joined together to lead in the successful private veterinary response which continued over weeks of recovery. They will share their stories from that fateful day, describe their work over the weeks that followed at Ground Zero, discuss how that work evolved into disaster preparedness for animals in NYC, and share information on where we are today.
