The Daily Dogs: Rose and Jack

Clark’s Boss’ Dogs

Meet Rose and Jack!

Here are their stories, as told to Urban Dog by their mom, Lorena:

Meet Jack Sliva-Godur.  He is my first 4-legged child who I found roaming the park on Earth Day 2 years ago.  I didn’t go to the park often but that day I was supposed to start working out with my hubby who had left me behind sleeping.  As I am getting to the park upset because I had to walk alone this little puppy started following me and playing.  As I am telling him to go home, he kept on walking next to me like nothing.  The gentlemen who was walking behind me, told me to put a leash on my dog because otherwise will run away.  As I am answering the man telling him, “he is not my dog,” I looked at Jack and he looked back at me and at that moment sparks flew. I stopped walking and he did too, so I picked him up and started to walk back home.  At this moment my husband who was with my sister finishing the workout at the end of the roundabout, saw me with the puppy and immediately fell in love. From that day on, he became our baby Jack. He is the most friendly, smart and lovable dog and loves to pose for pictures.

As months went on, I kept insisting to my husband, Gabriel that Jack needed a brother or sister.  Of course the answer was always NO! Nonetheless, Jack was still alone for most of the day because my son Joshua would go to school and we both work long hours. Although Jack got a lot of attention once we got home, Jack was still on his own for most of the day. December 7th of 2014, changed our lives once again. At my mother in law’s house was this 5-7 month old dog who had been hit by a car and literally left to die. This gentle and lovable girl was all bruised up, injured and in extremely bad shape. Gabriel and I realized we had to help.  She looked like she was in a lot of pain but at no time did she bark or even snarl at us.  My husband picked her up and we took her to the shelter at MDA.  The treatment was not very good. We waited for assistance for a long time.  When it was finally our turn, since she was in a really bad shape and couldn’t stand up on her own, they wanted to put her to sleep.  At this moment, the Latin-Polish in me started to complain and began to call our Pet-lovers friends because they wouldn’t allow her to come with us.  After a tiresome long 3 hours, because of these “angels” (Melanie Malanowski, Jennifer Diliz and Mandy Diaz) we were able to get her out and take her to a private clinic. These ladies became Rose’s angels because they truly helped us.  We were only trying to save her and in the process we fell in love with her so she became our baby girl and Jack’s sister. After a broken hip, pelvic, back and many other horrible injuries, her recovery was long but successful.  She is now a super healthy and playful dog with no problems.

We were blessed with Jack and Rose (Yes! They are named after Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet from the Titanic movie). My son Joshua says that Jack has the personality of a scholar.  He is very obedient, observant, and calm but super loving.  Rose is the total opposite.  She is a WWE fighter, playful, hyper, naughty, drama queen and a kisser. She loves to leak everyone with lots of kisses even if you don’t want them.  Jack and Rose are the best siblings who play, share toys, treats and bones all day long.  They literally share everything!.  They don’t want one each, they want the same one and to eat it at the same time together.  Maybe it’s because we are always together.  Family for me is everything and it can’t get any better than this!

I’ve heard that we don’t choose our dogs… they choose us so for that I am blessed!
