Dog Friendly Portland
Dogs EVERYWHERE!
I went to Portland over Columbus Day weekend to visit an old friend. Our plan was to go hiking, drink craft beers, and sight-see. I know I shouldn’t have been surprised given Portland’s reputation, but I really wasn’t prepared for how dog-friendly the city and surrounding area are. There were dogs EVERYWHERE!

There were dogs all over on Cannon Beach.

There were cute dog shops all over the Alphabet Historic District, including the Java Hound coffee shop and the Hip Hound store.

Fetch, an eyeglass shop in the Alphabet Historic District donates 100% of the net proceeds from purchases to support animal welfare through rescue, veterinary care, low-cost spay and neuter, and education in partnership with The Pixie Project.

Dogs are welcome on most hiking trails.

Cycle Dog is a Portland-based manufacturer of collars, leashes, and toys made from used bicycle inner tubes. Their goal is to create the world’s best dog products with a focus on the environment and to raise awareness of the millions of bike tubes thrown into landfills every year.
